Princes freeway traffic update
Traffic delays on a busy Melbourne freeway are expected to last for hours after a man was killed in a multi-vehicle collision.
Just before 6am on Tuesday, a Ford Ranger ute towing a trailer was travelling outbound in the far left lane on the Princes Freeway in Laverton. Emergency services believe it collided nose to tail with three other cars near Kororoit Creek Road. The crash caused one of the vehicles, a white Kia sedan, to veer across the freeway and hit two trucks. To find out more about how we use cookies, please see our Cookie Guide.
No one else was injured and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. With 12 major Princes Highway upgrade projects either in construction or development, holiday congestion will continue to be a factor along the South Coast in the short term while these projects are delivered.
With construction of the Berry to Bomaderry upgrade and Nowra Bridge replacement projects, the Princes Highway between Berry and South Nowra is expected to be a significant congestion point. During holiday periods there is congestion and delays experienced by westbound traffic on Jervis Bay Road attempting to access the Princes Highway northbound. This action will allow more through time for vehicles, minimising traffic delays and queue lengths on the Princes Highway.
On holiday weekends and public holidays there is often congestion and delays experienced by north and southbound traffic on the Princes Highway, and eastbound traffic on the Kings Highway, accessing the Princes Highway roundabout, north of Batemans Bay. While the opening of the new Batemans Bay Bridge is expected to ease some of the holiday congestion at this location, Traffic Management Road Crews will be deployed to the area to.
