F540 wireless gaming headset logitech

See below regarding wiring issues, but this is not a Logitech issue but rather a Microsoft restriction. In order to get this to work you need to use the component cable RCAs only that comes with your Xbox. However for some reason there is a restriction to only use either the component or HDMI put forth by a plastic tab that covers the HDMI port when the component is plugged in. To overcome this I just split the outer casing of the component cable end off and this allowed both cables to be used simultaneously.

So the red and white ends from the component cable run to the Logitech receiver allowing me to turn off my sound system and use just the headset. Pros: The sound quality is crystal clear and just magnificent. The packaging was simple and smart. The headset is very comfortable. The padding is water resistant, so it's easy to clean up if you sweat a bit on the hot days, unlike headsets with cloth padding. I love the auto-mute function when lifting my mic out of my face. Very simple setup.

Nowhere does it say this in the directions or on the box. So, ignore all the comments that claim they were unable to use it with your computers at work blah blah. Thank you Google Extra care must be taken when plugging the charger in and out of the headset.

Mine is still in tact, by I have two friends that went through to cable so far. Be very gentle. I cannot stress that fact enough. Ignore all reviews claiming that it will not. Pros: Better build quality than the PX5 which I returned , rechargeable batteries through USB , comfortable, easy to set up, awesome sound quality. The packaging is superb, makes Turtle Beach look amateur. The transmitter is easy to hide and has 2 inputs, which are selectable from the headset. Completely wireless for PS3 and PC.

Sorry xbox guys, you need to use a cord from the headset to the controller. Awesome sound isolation, my wife couldn't hear me playing like 10 feet away and I could have the volume cranked. Cons: not surround, but I knew that when I bought them. Besides, the sound quality destroys the simulated surround on PX5's anyways. It doesn't have the dsp processed surround like the other sets do, but I don't like what DSP surround sounds like anyways. Pros: Truly wireless headset.

Great range. Battery lasts long. The sound is excellent. Could have been the best universal wireless headset, but falls way short because of stupid design decisions.

Complete utter fail. Cons: Where to start? How about the stupid sidetone of this headset? Sidetone is when you can hear yourself and anything that's being transmitted from your mic. A good feature for some, but you can't turn it off. Twitter Facebook Reddit Mail. The sounds of the opening splash screen of our MMO had better music than before, and the ambient noises in -game came out great. After two hours, my ears felt a little warm and sweaty, and the extra weight on my head was noticeable.

After about four hours, my ears were really sweating and my left ear was starting to ache a bit, and I could hear fluid in my left ear. I may have simply come down with a something, but we determined about four hours is still the maximum limit for using such a large headset.

Because Microsoft makes provisions to physically prevent multiple audio connections from being made to the at once, we recommend either using the HD component cable which has analog audio outs or using something like a universal audio-out from a TV or AV receiver.

If all else fails, you may want to consider attaching a headphone jack to the transmitter base. In our testing we actually found that not only was this option the most convenient, but it also didn't compromise audio quality. Chatting with the F and the Xbox proved easy enough. We simply attached the included patch wire to our controller and headset, and were happy with the in-game results. The F's transmitter base is small and thin, though it does require its own power.

It's tiny enough that it won't clash with your home theater setup, though it should probably be in your line of sight for charging and PS3 chat functionality. If you're left with an RCA audio source and just the headphone jack, a cheap adapter can be purchased separately. Performance A lot of wireless headset manufacturers make a big deal about creating true in-ear Dolby Digital surround. Of course the F isn't capable of such things, but after using the system for more than a week, we're not sure a set like the Turtle Beach Ear Force X41 or the Tritton AX is really worth the price differential.

Neither of these aforementioned products supports simultaneous system switching, though the X41 can handle two separate sources. The F does a great job of directional firing, so even though there aren't multiple speakers in each earcup, we were left with most of the surround-sound experience.

The only area where these surround-sound headsets can trump the F is in bass output. In terms of actually weight, the audio from the F wasn't always as rich as we've experienced in the past with other products.
